Brake TSIB on '08 2IS?
Happy Friday everyone, I went to Lexus dealer today to have the Brake TSB done on my '08, after 40 minutes they told me that I have the most current brake pads. I wonder if that is true because my car were builded on 08/2007 and I purchased it on 10/2007. I have read some people have there '08 car brake replaced. I also take a picture of IS350 with side molding with my cell phone. I think it make the car less of sleek looking. What do you guy think of the side molding?
Have a great weekend!

Your dealer is more than likely confused? My 08 was delivered to me in December of 07, and my front wheels are covered in dust. I am going to see if my dealership will change mine at my 5k service.
Yes, there have been a few 08 owners on here that have got them changed.

I just had the brake pads changed on my GS yesterday.
No TSB but the my service manager changed the pads and didn't charge me.
Both the IS and GS have the high friction pads for '08 with no TSB pad change.
Depends on the dealer.
Side moulding kills the sleekness,IMO.
You do get some ding protection, tho.

The side moldings look surprisingly good on your car. First time I have seen them on an IS. Are they specific for the IS or from another make Lexus?
The brakes you need to tell them its for the brake dust I guess? I left mine alone as I like the OEM pads. I changed mine out for better pads but I get a decent amount of brake dust still.

Your dealer is lying to you. I have an 08 and picked it up in September last year and I got the brake TSIB done. They gave me that excuse also, until I produced part numbers of the new TSIB pad and the ones installed on the car.
Then they used the excuse that since the car was still relatively new and the pads aren't worn, they'd replace them as a courtesy. My car was less then 6 months old when I got that done.
Now my wheels don't get brown after 2 days of driving.

The side moldings remind me of my old 99 Altima SE. I had a white one and after a year, the side moldings flex agent in the paint turned a little yellow and the dealer would not fix it under bumper to bumper. Nonetrheless, your vehicle is protected from those nasty shopping carts and other items in motion.

The build date on mine was 08/07 and I had quite a lot of brake dust (daily cleaning required). They changed mine without much fuss. But the service advisor did comment that these are high performance brakes and asked if I was sure I wanted them changed. When I said "yeah, I would like them changed if possible", they accommodated my request and I love the new 'low dust' pads. Only need to clean my wheels about once a month and I am happy with the brake pedal feel.
Not a fan of the body side molding in general... Until I get my first door ding! But it looks better than I thought it would on the IS.

i picked up my IS (250 AWD) around Dec. 20th after it arrived from the port. At the 1000 mile service the service advisor also noticed the huge amount of brake dust that I was complaining about (yes, it had been washed before) and they changed the brake pads. It is 1000 miles later and I'm happy to report that the wheels look a whole lot better with no excessive brake dust. They did say, that Lexus hadn't officially put in the 2008s for the service, but they were able to put it in the system. This was a few months ago (sorry I can't remember when but probably March.)

I guess, I'm out of luck. I went two of dealer close to me, but both won't replace my brake pads. Just have to wait for TSB for '08. Does anybody have the parts number for TSB and the original pads that came with the car? The advisor show me the TSB number but I forgot to write it down.
