Default Loving the F Sport Suspension

I recently decided to go and purchase all of the F sport suspension parts (sways, shocks, springs, chasis brace) and got them installed this past weekend.

Ive got to say the drop is perfect, closes the wheel gap and makes my wheels look bigger than before. I find that that I dont scrape or hit anything, that could of course change a little when the springs settle.

The car rides quite a bit different than it did before. Definitely handles a lot better and there is a ton less body roll. But I feel every bump and pothole a lot more than before. I live in Pasadena and driving along Arroyo with all of the construction is not so fun. But cruising down the 110 is fantastic and a lot of fun, esp at night when the traffic is much lighter.

Installation:

As many people have already posted, the installation quotes from the dealerships is excessive to say the least. I got my stuff installed at Tustin lexus for warranty purposes and also got a discount being a toyota employee. But even with the toyota discount, the installation cost for all the parts ended up being $725. The install quote for just the springs and shocks was $1000!!! thats just insane. I even asked the service rep and said based on your hourly rate of $125, you are telling me it takes 8 hrs to install springs and shocks??? He said yes, it takes 2 hrs per...

I say BS, but what do I know? I feel even worse for the people who dont get a discount. Ill try to post pictures later. Overall Im very happy with the purchase and cant wait till the next mod (but that will have to wait until I can save up some more $$$).

Hope everyone has a fun 4th of july!

Sounds good. Post pics!

Have you noticed over dips at high speeds that you get lifted out of your seat?

heheh I paid roughly half what you did for all my stuff installed but I did it at an independent shop. They warranty all their work though so I don't really see the point of doing it at the dealership. The parts themselves have their own warranty anyway. Even if something went wrong with the install, with the difference in price you paid at the dealership, you could have got it fixed again elsewhere even if the original install shop didn't warranty their work.

Here is where having the dealership install the parts comes in handy:

I think I'll just tell them my car doesn't hold when I press the parking brake (which it doesn't) unless I totally smash it down to the floor. That should make them adjust the brake cable right?

Happens to me all the time. The back seat passengers get it worse.

Another reason why I got the parts installed at the dealer as opposed an independent shop (which of course is MUCH cheaper) is because I got a discount on the parts as well and the parts are shipped straight to the dealership. That being said, I had no way of transporting all of the parts to an independent shop so I just bit the bullet and paid for the install at the dealership.

I also wanted to point out that this was the first time i truly realized how LAME it is that our back seats dont fold down... Ill try to get pics up tonight.

Congrats on completing your F-Sport suspension!

I'm hoping to accomplish something similar someday...

Well the difference between dealer and independent shop is probably $200-300. So yes, it is worth it. Especially since we have run into problems with the F-Sport Springs.

If you think it's worth it then fine. Who am I to say if it's worth it to you or not? I personally paid about 400 bucks all total for my complete f-sport install setup. What did you pay? If you don't have a hookup from the dealership for some huge discount like the other guy here I doubt you'll be able to get everything installed for less than 1000 bucks.

According to the polls here looks like doesn't matter if the dealer installed it or the independent installed it both of them still have the noise issue. And as far as I know the extra 500+ bucks you spent still wouldn't get your spring noise fix from the dealer either. I haven't brought my car in to the dealer for the parking brake tsib yet but I doubt they'll deny me anyway. Actually I don't even think you need to even tell them about the tsib to get a parking brake adjustment as long as you're doing other service work like oil change or whatever. Just tell them your parking brake is not holding as well as you'd like. They'll probably adjust it for you free anyway.

If you mention to them that you have a spring noise. Only thing that will get you is an okay we'll look at it from them and so far I haven't read anything from anyone here saying that the dealer fixed that spring noise.

I got it installed for $650. So yes, its $250 difference. No "hookups". I guess it's peace of mind.
