Hello everyone, Im currently looking for some lowering springs for my car and I have been hearing about Espelirs and Tanabe DF210s. What is your opinion on these springs? What other springs are available that you would recommend? The car will be dropped on 18" wheels. I am leaning more towards the Espelirs because I saw a picture of the drop on 18" wheels and to me it looked great. Thanks CL!
1st choice: espelirs give a great ride. make sure you get a new set of shocks while you're at it!
2nd (only if espelirs are not available) choice: tanabe DF's
Can i ride on stock shocks? I remember reading somewhere that these springs are similar to stock so there shouldnt be much of a problem?
anticipate to blow your oem shocks sooner on the 2 above mentioned springs. although the spring rates may be comparable, the car is lower and applying more pressure onto the shocks...heed my advice
Lol I will certainly do that then. What shocks do you recommend? I dont need anything too fancy or expensive. I just need a good decent set to start off with and drop my car. Thanks!
I have a set of new Espelirs waiting to be installed too, so I've already done a bit of the research. I'm still saving a few more bucks to buy a set of shocks but here are our options:
KYB GR-2 - Very close to stock, almost if not identical to the Sport Design shocks. They are about 15% stiffer than stock and very comfortable. About $320 shipped to your door.
Bilstein HD - about 25% stiffer than stock. Lifetime warranty. Above average quality. More like $450-490
Bilstein Sport - About 50% stiffer than stock. Lifetime warranty. About $475 as well.
Personally, I like a little comfort in my setup since I have to ride on nasty midwest roads, so I'm going with the Bilstein HD's personally. IMO, they're better quality than KYB's and a bit stiffer. Hope that helps!
I was just offered a set of espelirs on ltuned shocks but one is blown. How much do you guys think that is worth? And is it easy to find one replacement shock?
