Default Dealer Volunteered to do Brake Pad TSIB!

I was absolutely shocked this morning when I took my car in for an oil change and detail (they owed me a free one for a previous mishap) and my Service Advisor told me that he noticed I was collecting a lot of Brake Dust and informed me that Lexus would replace those pads under warranyty (he didn't know that I already knew about this TSIB). For all the horror stories I have seen on here when people try to get the TSIB done, it was a refreshing change.

My service dept was great also. I took mine in yesterday for an oil change. I asked my rep if I could get the brake TSIB as I was tired of the dust. I have 25,000 miles btw. He said no problem at all. Said it would take a couple of hours to do oil/brakes. Told me I could grab a loaner if I wanted. Took one and ran a few errands and got some lunch. Done when I got back.

Shout out to Hennessy Lexus of Gwinnett!

I think the dealer gets paid on TSIB items just the same as warranty items....I think it's more bizarre that some dealers are trying everything to get out of it.

getting the pads was the best thing i did for my IS and all it took for me was mentioning the fact that the brake dust was ridiculous.

I agree. I had been hesitant to do it since I was affraid of losing performance, but it's been almost two weeks since I had the pads changed and my car detailed and my rims are pretty damn close to spotless! It's great!

It's impossible for a change of pads, assuming they can both engage ABS, to change your stopping distance.

Now, if you autocross or something you might see a difference in fade, and you'll certainly see a difference in feel, but actual braking performance as 99% of drivers care about it will be identical.
