Default Help: Mechanic suggesting Napa Sensa-Trac

I've got a '92 SC400. About to put continental ContiExtreme Contact 225/55/R16's on it all around (I live in Maine and must drive it in the winter). The mechanic is suggesting I put on Monroe sensatrac struts at $128.50 a piece . Need a set of two for up front. Also, I don't think the back set has been replaced since car was first built. Wouldn't it make sense to get new struts all around?

Little nervous given the sensa tracs are never discussed here but I constantly see eibach/tokico/blistein etc. mentioned constantly.

Thanks, swbrannon

monroes are just non oe replacement shocks that imo are worse than the factory shocks they will work fine if you just daily drive the car though

Yeah but this thing already rides pretty sloppy on the oem parts... Can I run a Eibach/Tokico setup on those size tires? What would the drop be, about an inch?

So I just priced out bilstein's for the supra 86-93 as well as the eibach pro kit springs for the same... all around it is $624 with shipping. This combo fits on a 92 SC400 nicely right? and will still clear the 225/55/16 stock rims? Can't afford new rims/slim tires right now. Maybe in a few years I will get new rims and use the stock 16's for snow tires only. Anyone's input would be appreciated before I drop down cash.

You need to get the shocks and springs from a 93.5-98 toyota supra, mkiv.

I just replaced the stock 180k mile shocks with KYB GR-2. I bought all 4 for $227 shipped. I am very pleased with them. This is just a daily driver for my wife and I did not need anything aggressive. I also did new tires and front control arms (Supra arms) while I was at it and the car rides much better!

but my tokico shock and eibach spring combo. it will give you a nit more then an inch drop. ride better then stock and just as smooth. nothing harsh.

i have it for sale in the classifieds.

its not worth getting sensa-trac shocks for that price. aftermarket setups come out cheaper then that.
