Default What make and model struts came on the 97 SC300?

Does anyone know brand and model struts the 97 SC300 came with? The reason why I'm asking is because I have a bad front strut and I want to change them, but I'm looking for a smooth ride more than performance, so I was thinking about picking up stock struts because from researching it seems as if those are the smoothest ones out there...........unless someone knows of a different set geared toward luxury opposed to high performance?

Well if I remember correctly, my fronts were made by KYB and the rears were TOKICO. And I am almost positive they these were originals from the factory. I went with KYB GR-2 shocks for the rears as a replacement only because they can take the stress of a lowering spring. The fronts were replaced with factory KYB from the dealership, these stock struts do not seem to take the beating from my espelir springs, so when they blow, I will replace them KYB GR2.

If you want a smooth strut, go to the dealer and get some OEM struts.

My son recently put 4 Tokico Blues on his SC300. We were very pleased with the ride quality. I believe he got the set off of ebay at somewhere under $300 for the 4. Pretty easy DIY job as well. I would stay way away from the Gabriels. Buy the kyb's before those crappy shocks.

thanks for the heads up lol I think I'm going to pick up the KYB Shocks seeing how they seem to be the closest to stock ride that I can get without paying $200+ per strut for OEM.

What springs do you recommend? Stock or aftermarket?
