I have H&R springs right now. It probably is the one of the lowest drop you can get for springs. Ride comfort is very subjective from one person to another. For me, the springs are firm but not harsh at all. Of course whenever you lower your car, you cannot expect the stock ride quality. Handling is quite responsive also. I am using the stock Sport Package shocks on them.

Here is the pic of before and after drop.. Hope this pic will help.. Ok first of all, I read the other topic about other ride has H&R spring sitting on oem shock which was blown because the lower spring sitting too low.. I doubt that is not a answer. I work at Lexus Tech and Ive working on few ISx50.. Ive seen a few 2nd gen IS shock blown with stock spring.. I asked master tech (work on Toyota and Lexus over 20 years) about why the stock shock were blown within 8K miles.. He told me depend the driver drive the car.. They might go over pothole many times, or even drive on rough road...
Here is the pic of the IS sitting on H&R..
