Default Opinions on R1 Rotors??

Hey guys,

I'm replacing the rotors on my 97 SC400 and was curious if any of you had any experience with R1 Concepts rotors. I'll be getting the blanks (I see no real benefit in slotted or cross-drilled for street use). I've heard good things about them, but I like to get first hand experience, pros and cons.

Thanks!

I've bought a set of slotted rotors for my MR2 Turbo from them and they've held up really well. I drive my MR2 a lot harder than the SC so I would say their stuff is very comparable to factory rotors.

I did a search on these and all I read was good things. One person had a problem with bad rusting though....

get em. They are fairly inexpensive and they don't suck.

thats a recipe that works for me. I've used r1 on a lot of my cars and never had any problems.

I have used iRotors, R1, and then now RotorPros all without any issues. Just keep in mind that they are meant for street use and that these cheaper drill/slotted ones will eventually crack if tracked.

I am about to go the same route with my LS400 brake setup. The only concern is that they don't mention a zinc coating for the LS4 blank rotors. Can anyone confirm this? If not slotted rotors don't sound too bad...

They are good rotors! I got them on the bmw, acura (when I had it) and my friend has them on his infinity. They do the job and I haven't had any issues with them. Rust issue I had on the Acura when I left it parked for about 3 weeks and it was raining, even then it was very minor surface rust probably no more then what happened to the stock rotors.

I saw the iRotors on Ebay but was also considering Brakeplanet.com. Their stuff look like at least as good of a deal. Any opinions or thoughts?

I have used R1 Concepts rotors on my last 4 cars and not one issue yet. They have held up very well and I will be buying a set for my '94 SC400 when the time comes to replace them.

Default R1 Concepts rotors, not for track, ok for street

R1 Concepts is selling quality rotors at bargain prices. Mine came with a coating and have never rusted. Although they will withstand most any street use, the slotted and drilled rotors (like most) were a poor choice for high speed HPDE.

I would not recommend these for track use. This happened on my last HPDE day at the fantastic high speed SCCA owned Thunderhill road course:
