Default Is there a diffence in size on the rear sway bar...

...between a stock '93 and a stock '97 SC400? I found out the later model 97+ Supras got smaller rear sways but am not having luck finding out for sure about the SC. I ask because I used a set of Daizen rear sway bushings off a wrecked '93 but my stock sway on my '97 is noticeably smaller diameter. The sway bar from the '93 matches the bushings perfect so I'm putting it on my '97 now too. Is an an aftermarket bar or what?

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a difference in years. They have different part numbers, so it is possible the 97 are smaller in diameter for more comfort.

If that's the case, I suppose the thicker one would be better then anyway.

Yup. Do you know if that was a stock sway bar on the rear of your car?

Either way, the thicker bar from the '93 fit well and is noticeably stiffer in the corners. I would be interested to know still if there is a difference from the factory sway bars between the years. Any input would be appreciated.

I believe it is a stock sway bar because when I remove the old bushing they were OEM.

But I'm not really sure what to say about the sway bar, check for any markings.

Bump for curiosity. Sway bar from the '93 appears to be OEM.

The 97-00 rear sways have a less aggressive diameter/design than the
92-96, but not sure of the exact number.

Also, the sizes/designs of the front sways varied between 92-94, 95-96, and 97-00.

So I assume this could be a upgrade from stock on the '97+ if you're looking for a little better handling. It certainly feels better in the corners. I wonder which of the fronts is most agressive?

95-96 fronts maybe be most aggressive. They are the most expensive.

Good luck finding one, I searched through the junkyards on Broadway in Phoenix and they have nothing. I found a lot of LS400s though, and Altimas lol.

I agree, look at the Daizen website and check the application for the swaybar bushings, the pre-97 and 97+ are different.

I've noticed that, Gazi has been my best source for parts so far besides you Dennis.

Hey I'm bringing this thread back because I recently purchased a supra tt rear sway bar from a 95 supra tt. I haven't installed it yet because I still need to purchase the subframe mounts. I've installed TT sway bars before on my 97 sc300 and everything bolted up fine.

Now I have a 93 sc300 and I noticed they do look thicker. I haven't measure exactly though. And the supra tt rear sway bar is the same thickness from my 97 oem rear sway bar. I know this because I still have my OEM 97 sc sways from when I replaced them before.

I've read that the 97-98 supra's are 20mm and pre-97 supra tt are 22mm. And the SC is supposed to be 22mm.

So I just wanted to know if anybody has ever measured their pre97 sc rear sway bar? And is there a oem supra rear sway bar that is the same thickness as the pre-97 sc?
