Default Monoblock Brakes

Hey, was wondering what is the major differences between a regular Supra TT brake caliper and these "Monoblock" brakes, this kit is going for about $2.5k which is considerably more expensive then either TT and the TRD (red) BBK, they don't come with rears, and I'm not sure if they even make rears in monoblock, nor do they come with rotors or lines. Do they have a noticeable difference in stopping power?

I'm bumping this because, I would like to know the answer as well. I have never seen this brake kit before. Brake torque specs of something would be great.

2.5K? screw that. for that money you can easily buy 6 piston wilwoods for the front and 4 piston rears. this will also leave you money to pay someone to make custom mounting brackets.

if you buy it i will laugh. break torque is a big deal but i doubt 95% of the people on here can even exceed the braking power of a stop supra tt setup. let alone one that consists of upgraded rotors and pads

Monoblock brakes are calipers that are one piece units adding extra strength to the caliper and giving more stopping power. They look like LS units at first but when you look at the LS calipers you'll see that it made with two pieces rather than one. I can't say from personal experience about the stopping power but judging by the price it looks more like it's suited for a racing application.

damn, what motors are you guys running that you need $2.5k stopping power? These brakes can stop V12 engines!

If I am spending that kind of money, I might as well get StopTech or Endless

Evidently you guys have never seen Brembo Monoblock BBK's. These are more suited for race applications...

2.5k for a set of the TRD? That's a steal compared to Brembo, or Alcon monoblock brakes.

Those look similar to the IS-F monoblock brakes..Brembo makes the OEM applications for Lexus now so I wouldn't be surprised if that TRD is actually Brembo brakes but rebranded...

IMO, 2,500 is very reasonable when you compare to the likes of Endless, Brembo GT kits, and AP racing applications..Especially when this kit comes with rear rotors, brake lines, and pads, as most kits do not..

For BBK, LS400 kit is the best bang for the buck! Supra front and rear setup is world class braking power, actually one of the best brake kits every made for an OEM car in the 90's..But if you want high-end stuff like Brembo monoblocks, expect to PAY big money..

evidently you did not read my post SoarerAZ...ive seen those brakes and i still stand by my statement. 2500 is not a lot for brakes in the term of whats available out there. most full racing setups will run in tens of thousands of dollars easily.

the point is that for most people here that dont do anything more with their cars then take it out of the garage, wash them, and take for a nice drive, those or any true brake upgrade is a waste of money.

if you are going to seriously consider brakes then you should consider removing the brake booster, converting to dual master cylinder, eliminating ABS, and more. i cant think ofa single person here or even on SupraForums that will be willing to do all that work or even pay someone to get it done.

Well, as soon as Spring rolls by, I will be getting either the LS BBK conversion or the Supra brakes, what have you guys used for the rears since I know that the LS or Supra BBK only comes with fronts ... I know there have been many threads about this BBK but where can I source the calipers for the rears?

supra tt rears are your best bet.

you need the calipers, pads, and rotors.

i agree with 5sp... I havent seen many people dedicated to such things... although.. I do know of someone with an MK3 who is just converted to manual brakes (ridding the brake booster) and then doing dual master cyl sometime real soon...
