Default Does anyone have problems with the brakes on IS350?

Does anyone have problems with the stock brakes on the 350 or is it just me? At about 15,000 miles i had a clunking problem with the brakes and i had the rotors changed. The dealer said that i warped them... now at 26,000 miles im having the same problem. im not an agressive driver or anything.... What do u think?

Please describe: CLUNK?

When do you hear clunk?

For example, when you back up..... STOP... Then hit forward and STOP... and hear CLUNK?

Its normal.

no issues, except for the well-known brake dust.

Anybody go with the low brake dust pads (per TSB) on their IS? If so, how's the braking feel with new pads?

There are indeed whole threads about it, but in short the TSIB pads are smoother, less grabby, and allow better control of your braking as well as much lower dust.

Good... Having them installed next week. Not sure about your "CLUNK" problem. Did the first warpage occur with the "older" dusty pads, or have both problems shown up with the "alternate" brake pads. No idea why it would matter, but just looking for common threads...

Yes, thanks. That thread below has some good feedback on low dust pads.

I am using the stock brake pads. The clunk only occurs when i first apply the brakes after starting the car up cold. Like backing up and coming to a stop before i go forward. Or when i start the car and come to a stop sign. it kinda sounds like metal cracking... i dont know how to explain it. but it does not sound good.

I've got the metal cracking sound too...

I hear it when I first hit my brakes after opening the garage door when I come home (ie- I stop the car, open the garage door, then get back into the car and start creeping into the garage).

Maybe lobux can chime in on this one.......

I've got this problem too, thinking about bringing it up with the dealer next time I'm in for service (found out rear passenger lock wasn't working a few months ago... so lazy to take it in).

I believe the clunking sound is from the parking brake, and there is a TSB for it.
