![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Earlier SC's had 215/60R16 tires, but at some point 225/55R16 became standard.
There is a very slight difference in width and height (less than ¼"), but is there any significant difference in performance or feel between these two sizes?
Thanks,
Harpo

I've never heard of an SC coming with 255/55/16 In stock form so I'm gonna assume you meant 225/55/16. Those came stock on my sc4. I think the first gen sc3's came with 215/60/15. Besides the 1 inch difference in wheel size the slight difference in width and sidewall is so marginal i highly doubt that theres gonna be a noticeable difference in performance between the two. Hope this helps

mine came with 225/55/16. its a 93 sc300 on 97+ sc wheels.
get a tire with a shorter sidewall. it will flex less and you will have better steering response. the negative part is with a smaller side wall the ride can be a little more harsh due to the tire flexing less.
for the summer i have 255/35/18 all around.
for winter i have supra tt wheels with 235/45/17 and like a 235/55/17. got these for 40 for a set so im not complaining about size.

this is the sizes that are interchangeable with stock and will be same rolling diameter:
225/55/16
235/50/16
245/45/16
i wouldnt put anything bigger then a 235 on that stock wheels. it only a 16x6.5. i put 235 on 9 inch wheels

i have 245's on my stockers. they stick out a little from the rim, but the extra traction is worth it to me. makes a huge difference in the rain.
my last sc I ran 245/45 all around, my current SC in the winter I use the stock wheels with 245's in the back and stock 225's up front. nice change in the winter from my 19's.
dont wanna mess up my gold wheels =)
