Carbing strut brace

I was just at the TEIN USA website and they have went up to $330.00 on the Supra strut tower bar by Carbing. I have been persuaded that the Supra bar will work well on the SC, but I also believe they have just came out with the front bar for the 01 up SC430, so maybe ours next at a reduced price from the Supra.

You could just adapt that to an ebay strut bar, and call it a day. Wouldnt even break the 100 dollar mark and you'd have a functional strut bar with master cylinder brace.

There are so many good things about the Carbing, just need to save the money. I thought I had it, but alas then there was a stack of bills. Still hoping for pictures.

You guys have been asking for some pictures of the Supra TT Carbing STB installed on an SC400. I installed the bar a couple of years ago on my 98 SC400, as you can see in the pictures. I can’t remember where I purchased it, but I think I paid around $300. The fit is perfect and is an easy install. I noticed a significant ‘tightening’ of the front end after I installed it, which is what I was looking for. Without the bar, the front end felt a little ‘loose’ over small imperfections in the road surface. I’m surprised that structural reinforcement of the strut towers (both front and rear) is not standard on all cars that claim to have sporty pretensions. It would be better if the Carbing bar was also tied to the firewall, but I have not found any bars for the SC or Supra that have that mounting feature. I had to modify the stopper by slightly reducing the thickness of the nylon stopper and changing the bolt arrangement that holds it to the bar. It lines up perfectly with the master cylinder. But, from my perspective, the stopper has no noticeable effect. I run stock TT front and rear calipers and rotors, so their awesome stopping power may be the reason. Plus, I don’t make a habit of slamming on the brakes. Maybe if I did a lot of track racing it would make a difference, but I don’t think the SC is a capable track racer.
For some reason, I am only able to post one picture. I will post another reply showing other pictures. The one below shows the stopper.

The stopper is not actually bolted to the master cylinder. The nylon stopper is bolted to the STB, and is supposed to be adjusted tight against the master cylinder with the bolt. Because of clearance issues, it doesn't work as designed for the Supra. For the SC, I installed the STB without the stopper and took measurements from the stopper bracket to the master cylinder. Then I sanded the nylon piece down a little bit to the correct thickness and bolted it to the STB (after removing it from the car). Reinstalling the STB forces the nylon stopper against the master cylinder.
