Default Springs and spacers installed - pics

well, here are the pics - I figured I'd start a new thread for this instead of posting on the bottom of the old one. I had everything completed on Monday of last week and it turned out great. The ride is basically exactly the same as stock, the car looks great, and I feel like I notice a handling difference with the spacers on. Here are the pics.

The Tein springs dropped the rear very nicely but the front is a bit disappointing Your next mod should be the F-Sport intake system!

The best spacers to get are the one where you don't have to install extended lug nuts on your factory hubs. You want the ones that have new studs built into the spacers themselves. H&R makes quality ones, they are the same one the threadstarter is using..

I think the ones with the built-in studs are a Japanese manufacturer (Kics or Ichiba?) - can't remember. Mine came with extended studs that had to be installed/seated after the OEM studs were pressed out.

I'm hoping the front will settle down a little in the coming weeks - keep in mind that I took the pics from ground level, so when you are walking around the car, the drop looks very nice.

Also a bonus is that I'm *barely* rubbing in the front on full wheel lock - I used 15mm (front) and 20mm (rear) H&R spacers. The handling is improved (in my mind) - the car seems tighter through the turns.

Next mods will probably be F-sport intake and rear roof spoiler. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks a lot, I'm pretty pumped myself. I noticed a little stiffness yesterday in going over a few bumps at higher speeds, but I suppose that is to be expected.

I also have to add that if I got custom spacers done, I would still go with 15mm in the front, but the rear could easily be 22-23mm and it would look just about perfect.

05LSV- Your ride looks awesome with the spacers! I am really considering those now for my car after looking at your pics. Do you think it would look goofy if I didn't drop the car? Wasn't planning on dropping the IS. Reminds me of my ole Honda days bout 12 yrs ago..2 inch drop scrapin' all over town. Don't miss that at all. Is there a big difference in the way it handles, etc after spacers and drop? Thanks for the input.

Ian - I would say drop the car. I'm not a big fan of dropping the car so low it scratches when you go over a speed bump and you're not angled over it. In my opinion, the S-tech drop was great. I haven't scratched anything as of yet, and my wheels don't rub. The drop is 1.6/r and 1.2/r - not on the ground by any means. Very practical.

The 15mm and 20mm spacers are great, although I will say if I was doing custom spacers, I would go with 22-23mm in the rear for the perfect offset.

Is this a pretty simple install (spacers)? I was also wondering who installed your spacers and springs? I live in North Dallas.

I remember going through $200 tires like undies when my camber was all jacked up when lowered. I was stupid and did not buy a camber kit. I assume there is going to be some negative camber. Are you experiencing any issues other than the slight rubbing in fronts on full lock? Inside tire wear... maybe too soon to tell.

Do you think 25mm spacers would fit in the rear with no rubbing? (assuming the car is dropped)

I would imagine 25mm spacers in the rear would fit - it would be tight, but I'll bet it would be fine.

I had all the work done at a shop about an hour north of Houston - springs and spacers (with new extended wheel studs seated) installed for under $300. As far as I know, the only thing that needs adjusting after the drop is the toe. I'm going to take it for an alignment just to be cautious about the camber, but I've heard of a lot of people going in for the alignment and nothing even needed to be done to stay within tolerable levels. As you know, there is no camber kit available for the ISx50.
