Exact Motorsports RCA Bolt Failure!!!

GSteg is right. I have no reason to doubt the quality of the bolts provided by EXACT MS. I just bought new ones to ensure the bolts were not yielded due to excessive preload.
The other point was that good quality Grade 12.9 bolts are not immune to failure due to shock loading. In other words, just because the bolt broke doesn't mean it must have been "bad".

When I got my new bolts from Exact... I just torqued them to 100 or 105 ft/lbs...can't remember which... since they never gave any reasoning to why they chose 120....

ive taken them off my old gs, and put them on my current gs, no issue. have had them for a while now. i just had them retorqued to 100 ft lbs. should be plenty enough. exact probably suggested 120 as its what is rated for that bolt grade. if anything, they probably just oversaw it as something minor to write down on their site and instructions and didnt think much beyond that.

haha, i remember looking into this as the torque spec was in question. when i looked into the grade for the bolt, i remember reading the bolts handling to 120ft lbs. my guess is that exact read that as the bolts should be torqued to 120 ft lbs and just transferred the info over. the stock bolts are meant to be 80something ft lbs no? so going to 100 is already well over compensating.

We will never know why EXACT recommended 120 ft/lbs....its all speculation at this point, unless they post up.
Btw...the spec sheet for the OEM 12mm bolt is 81 or 82 ft/lbs....and probably a grade 10.9 bolt.
