possible to get Lexus/toyota involved?? seeing that this is a problem for MANY MANY 2gs owners.
yeah, there are a lot of threads about it.

it's only lately for me too. update to my earlier post in this thread regarding suspension related maintenance..

new Bilstein PSS coilover w/ OEM top hats June/09. lowered to about 1 finger gap.
new driver side lower ball joint 1 year ago
new passenger side lower ball joint 8/8/09
new tie rod end 2 years ago
new upper ball joint/arm 1 year ago
new Daizen sway bar bushing (front and rear)
new sway bar DIY mounts (bolts broke so replaced bolts/nuts)
new Daizen steering rack bushing
new front wheel bearings 1 year ago
new front RCA block and bolt this spring
new front caliper/rotor/pad about 2 years ago
new rear caliper/pad July/09
custom alignment in July/09 (almost within factory spec, camber at -1.5)

Other major front suspension related things that aren't done are...
lower arm no1
lower arm no2
upper/lower arm bushings (put on like 70k miles since bushing was replaced)

I mean, what else could it be? Steering rack is not moving when I wiggle it and turns fine. Could be bushings I guess...but I just sold my brand new Daizen bushings b/c I thought my bushings were fine. ARGH!!!!

I don't know about you guys, mine is only at low speed when braking (pitching and diving when braking at low speed). it's not the brakes b/c it sounds more towards the middle of the car. could it where the upper arms are mounted??

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp.

alright, I've been researching the crap out of the Aristo sites and a lot of owners have been changing their lower arm no.2.

They say the shudder under braking goes away but nothing about the metal-to-metal sound...but the Aristo guys are changing at only under 100k kilometers; which is about 60k miles. Their pics show a torn no2 bushing. Replaced with part number 48660-30281/48670-30281. 03-05 GS have 5mm bigger arm and bigger bushing...which is a bolt on for Aristos.

48660-30280/48670-30280
vs
48660-30281/48670-30281

broken 98-03 front lower no2 arm. could this be the metal sound shifting under pitching?

I was in the garage last week and turned the wheel without the brake pedal ingauged and my GF was standing on the passenger side and we heard the "pop" sound.. She said "it sounded like its coming from behind the wheel".. I still think its the upper ball joint on the control arm...

There is also a thread from "lexforlife" about replacing the lower bushing on the control arm saying that its not necessary and the car will track differently for some reason.. All i have replaced is the ball joints which i did at like 57k...

ITs got to be those bushings...

I got a quote for the lower arm no2 for the hell of it and they want 170 for the part + 2-3hr of labor "depending on damage"? Whatever happened to book hour? and 170 for the part? It's 5000 yen (50bucks) in Japan!

I'm thinking it is might be the upper arm related also from where the sound is coming from... which is going to be quite pricey

My sound is not a clunk sound, but a disturbing creaking sound that got worse in the past 2 days. Only when diving but not when accelerating.

I don't think it's the bushing of the arm but the ball joint.

vwynn>
have you changed your upper ball joint/arm?

Yep, raise the car and pull on the wheel from the top and bottom, alternating. If there is movement and a clanking sound, it is your upper ball joint. Ask me how I know this.
