There was a guy on here a year ago that had been involved with evaluating various race/off road pads and rotors. His info about rotors was that cross drilling was worthless and if not done with a lot of care would lead to warping. Slotting was of very limited use and only had any slight functionality at wiping water of the rotor. Now, I have a problem coming out of the car wash but I have never had any brake complaint due to "rain". So, its plain rotors for me cause there is a little more rotor surface if it isn't hacked up.
The other thing he said was that rotors aren't all made from the same metal alloys. There is a huge difference in the friction characteristics between rotor manufacturers. I know that there would be a large affect between the rotor and the pad composition to which they are mated. The problem just became without solution by the likes of US. Find a reputable after market house and buy there package kit including rotors and pads. You are also looking for rotors that have the "swept" cooling fins. They not only cool much better and recover faster but they are more expensive to cast so straight rotors flag a cheap set and the metalurgy must also be inferior and they haven't gone to the expense of evaluating the pad composition compatibility most probably. Find a set up that meets all this criteria and THEN shop price.
Good luck and know that I don't consider myself an expert,
John

I just ordered a set from ebay to test out.
My wife's old IS300 had some R1 Concepts drilled/slotted roters and they were fine. We used factory Toyota pads on them. My father's LS400 has some R1 Concepts drilled/slotted rotors also with Oreilly's top of the line pads and he is happy also.
I went with another dealer that is from Illinois. Advertised with ceramic pads so we will see. I wont be doing any racing as of now but as long as I can stop normally I will be fine and happy for now. Once the car is done....the chute will help it slow down.
On the RC car note though.... here is mine.
