Labor costs for lowering spring installation?
A friend of mine is the service manager (Not at lexus) where i purchased my used 06 is350. He quoted me $200 for labor to install lowering springs. He said his book stated 4 hours of labor to do the front and back at a discounted rate of $50 an hour. I think they normally charge $90 an hour in the shop. Is this a good deal? I'm assuming you have to get an alignment shortly after the install once the springs have settled.
I would rather have a professional do it than attempt it myself.
Thanks for your input..

i emailed the dealership i got my car from and they quoted me 125 per hour and that it would take 8 hours for springs and shocks. my jaw fell off when i read that one.

the job is roughly a 3-4 hour job. Ive had springs and coils installed. For the coils I was at the shop the whole time watching. I think if a install is done in significantly less time you are risking quality.

Thanks for your responses guys.. I live in Biloxi, MS so there's not alot of quality shops around here. The closest lexus dealership is 70 miles away. Atleast I'm not in a hurry to drop it cause I still have the stock 17's on it right now. I'm trying to get an idea of the costs involved when I pick out some new wheels. Cause it's got to be dropped when the wheels come in!

$100 in Van Nuys in AA Autoworks. Takes about hour and thirty min. Shouldnt take any longer for spring installation. Had 2 of my previous car lowered, never took more then hour and a half.

I think $200 w/ alignment is legitt. I put a post in NELOC for my f-sport spring install, between $150-200 would be fine, and if a CL member can do it, hell take my money as long as they don't fall off when i go around the block. lol. but if a shop can do $200 w/ alignment obv. i'm not gona just dishh out $200 jus for a quick install. was a choice between TEIN/H&R or F-sport, but prob. gettin' the f-sport rims powdercoated n i feel they sit nice from f-sport equipped cars such as the IS250 from westminster lexus site. NJ kindaa sux to be lowww. or even 19's, but i guess it's fun and games untill ur screwed haha

between $175-200 for Lexus is a good deal.
I wouldn't get the car aligned right away tho.. I would let the springs settle in (usually 3-4 days) before getting an alignment.
