SC400 Brake Caliper - Help!
I have replaced my rotors and pads on my 95 SC400 but cannot get the calipers back over the new disks and pads. The pistons are fully retracted. The top bolt on the caliper that the "hat" bolts onto floats in and out. The bottom bolt is locked in an extended position making it impossible to get the caliper on. Is the bottom bolt supposed to float the same as the top one. If the bottom bolt moved like the top one, it would be easy to mount the "hat".
If the bottom bolt is supposed to float and is frozen, I assume I would need to buy new rotors, right?
I've replaced calipers on any number of Porsches but I have never seen a two part system like the one on the SC400.
Any help will be appreciated.

Your slide bolt is seized, hit it with some liquid wrench, let it sit, then VERY carefully tap it out or press it out using a clamp, make sure you use some wood or something to protect the bolt from nicks. After you get it out, check for damage, if its ok, lube it up and slap it on.

you know, there is a suspension and brakes section.
anyhow, remove the bracket from the spindle. put it in a bench vise and try to knock the slide bolt out. clean off all the rust and grease the hell out of it. spray lube will just run out or dry out due to the heat.

Thank you both. I could not find an answer using the search function. Your answer is what I suspected but I did not want to start my attack without some verification.

Thank you!. Unfortunately, I'm away from home for two weeks and did not have an opportunity to take any pictures before I left. And, I just found this forum while sitting in a hotel room on Tuesday. Nonetheless, your members have helped me solve my problem, at least conceptually. Now, I just have to get back home and try their suggestions.

Yeah, I used a C-clamp to get the pistons back in. Used a small block of wood to cover both pistons and applied the clamp to the wood to push both back in at the same time.
Now, my problem is the slide bolts on the inside bottom (inside meaning facing inward toward the motor). I'll try the prior suggestions once I get home to try and free those up.
