LOL you guys can't really think that THIS^^^ is the bump stop..... That's a rubber boot that keeps the springs from clanging together under full compression.
You'll only want to cut off 1/2 of the bump stop at MOST. The rubber is specially formed for the amount of force the shock body can exude under full compression. When you cut the bump stop in half, it drastically decreases the amount of stress the bump stop can handle, and much of it is transferred to the shock body (which will cause it to explode after multiple times).

i didnt think it was possible for me to bottom out. my suspension isnt as low as most guys around here. but i look up towards the top of the shock towers and sure enough, there are dimples from the control arm striking the body. could that be because the bump stops are deteriorated?
@ twestman. its obvious the stuff in my coils shouldnt be there, but the piece you describe, isnt it more like a sleeve thats wrapped around the top coils?
