Default Weight comparision of Supra to SC...

I'm wondering if we can discuss why the SC platform weighs more than the supra. Which specific areas are unavoidably heavier.

I'd like the know the weight of a gutted SC400 vs gutted tt supra vs tt supra in stock trim.

I'm also wondering what an SC400 would weigh with carbon hood, doors, and trunk and lightweight seats.

Airbags have to stay. Sort of considering dumping the ABS, definately want to dump the trac but haven't had time and don't know the details at this point.

I want to trim the fat and go 6 speed.

Also wondering the weight difference between a 17" supra wheel and a 18" HRE.

Rambling on... Just trying to get some real info and numbers...or even guesstimates cos you or your friends race car was set up like this and weighed this much... you know?

Free and open discussion and exchange of ideas is encouraged. Thanks!

Simple math Stock Sc400 weighs 3,604 compared to a stock Supra TT which weighs 3,486. Sc weighing 118 pounds more. Now I cant tell you how much they weigh gutted, as I need more detail.

The SC400 is just a bigger, heavier, motor. I think the chassis of the Supra and SC weigh pretty close to the same when they're stripped down. What do stock SC300's weigh? Actually, what do single turbo'd, manual tranny, SC300's weigh vs a similarly equipped Supra?

have you felt the difference in weight of the doors alone?

actually if you swap to supra front seats in the SC it brings the weight relatively close to a supra.

I had no idea that this was true. Do you have the exact weight difference between the two motors? I know once you go single on a GTE, it takes away quite a bit of weight in itself.

a 1UZFE without accessories is around 390lbs.

A 2jzGTE without accessories is around 475lbs.

It's an aluminum block versus iron block for the 2jz.

My SC400 weighed in at 3615 without me in it and a half tank of fuel.
I'm running a 2jz-gte single turbo with dual 4" exhaust (heavy).
No weight reduction mods whatsoever.

there are too many factors while trying to figure the weights out. depends on someones definition of gutted. gutted as in full race, just basically the essentials..or gutted with just losing some of the non essentials

Whats strange is how on the supra the AT transmission adds 55 lbs yet on our cars the AT is an extra 30lbs.

70lbs over a supra targa top is pretty good in my book. Esp. considering your paying like 1/3rd-1/4th of the price of a supra for the car and no law enforcement heat.

^Well the supra does have stronger rear diff! Maybe that's where the weight is.

I should mention that I'm running TT brakes, V160 and 6 speed diff/axles.
