Default TSIB Front Brake

I spoke with a service consultant, and he said that they will do the TSIB for my front brake based on the pad stats. (The mech will decide if they will do it or not) I already have 8500 mileages on my vehicle; do you think they will deny my request? Should I call corporate Lexus?

The TSIB itself states, pretty clearly, that it applies anytime during the 50,000 mile factory warranty period.

Folks have posted about having it done with 25,000 and more miles on their car, so there's no way they should have any issue at 8500.

At 8,500 miles, it's unlikely you will have a problem. However, if your pads really are shot, many dealers, including the one I use, will refuse to perform the TSIB.

I know it stated very clearly either 50,000 miles or 48 months but I have a feeling they will find a way to deny the TSIB and want me to pay for it. Just want to bring it out and see what the majority says.

How will the pads shot? Can you elaborate a little? Thanks

I took my car in for an oil change and told my service rep. about the excessive brake dust build up on the front brake. He checked the computer for the TSIB and they replaced the front brake pads with out any charge. I had about 7000 miles on the vehicle.

My dealer told me that I had only 2mm left in the pad so they could not do it. I replaced the pads myself. It was a piece of cake and it cost me $40 after a $10 dollars off coupon for ceramic brakes.

Dealers denying it never made any sense at all to me... for one the TSIB states anytime during the 50k warranty period... for another, no matter how new or worn the dusty pads are, they're going in the trash after they take em off.

I know I've heard the occasional dealer refuse, but never understood how they're able to. (mine were done at my 10k service with no issues, but I'm sure I had a decent bit of pad left anyway)

So far there are no TSIB's regarding brakes for the 09 ISx50's.

It was posted a while back that the from-the-factory brake pads for 09s had been changed to the TSIB pads a couple months into the production run... so only early built 09s should even have the issue.

The TSIB doesn't currently cover those cars, but it took them almost a year from their release before the 08s were added too.
