Default Rear brake cover grinding on rotor

I changed my wheels the other day, and after going for a test drive I noticed a slight metal to metal grinding sound whenever I would make a slight right turn.

I went to the lexus dealership (because I lost my wheel lock key when I changed the wheels ) and drove around with one of the service techs. He immediately knew it was the rear brake cover grinding against the rotor. He said this is a rare problem that can happen when the cover rusts a bit. His opinion to cure the problem was to completely take apart the wheel bearing to replace the cover. And once the wheel bearing is taken apart you have to get a new one ($500+ job).

I was thinking I might just be able to bend the cover so that it doesnt rub anymore, but after looking at it, I'm pretty sure that it isn't rubbing near the outter edge, but rather near the axle where everything comes together.

Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks

Just bend it. I had this problem on one of my front ones but it was rubbing on the wheel.

He meant bending the plate (splash guard for rotor).

I'm having the same problem but the sound comes from the front when I'm turning slightly right. Let me know what you do to make the grinding noise go away and I will try it on my car.

just bend the thin metal plate back and away from the rotors and save yourself $500 from the dealership! or remove them plates totally
