by raising the car, you free up all the load that goes on to mounting points...and when you lower it, it puts equal pressure on the bar. or something like that, it makes sense in my mind but I was taught by someone who actually knew what they were talking about.
so, i installed mine just now on my '03 GS300.. with the engine cover off.. i bolted it down and noticed it only clears by several MM... should i worry about it touching?

y are u supposed to jack it up to install it properly? i installed mine i got from chris (ck6speed) which is the one pete (Phml) sells and i installed with car just sitting there....did i make a boo boo?
I too thought you can install the bar w/o having to jack up the car. I saw a guy do it while all four wheels of the car were on the ground.
Just thinking about it..., if you raise the car up and then bolt it down, it'll give a pretensioned effect once the car is lowered. I'm just wondering why it would flex so much as to need one.
Did you have to leave the cover off to install yours? I'm thinking of buying a TRD bar and really don't want to have my cover off just to install the bar.
