New suspension review
Well after reading many reviews and getting many ideas from this forum for suspension setups i made a decision and here are my thoughts. I went with Bilstein SP shocks and tanabe Df210 springs. I also replaced my Ball joints and tie rods. Soon i will be replacing the upper control arms as well. Well to start off the drop is just right about 1 1/2 finger gap in the front on stock 17"the rear about 2 finger gap, everything was done today so i still have about a week to let the shocks and springs settle in maybe they will go a bit lower which is a . The ride is firm but not harsh, cornering is amazing its a totally different animal. Turns that i was able to take at 30 mph with some fear i can now take at 60 mph+ with full confidence. The rear doesn't pop a squat anymore its just shoot and go. The car stays planted at all times it feels like you have 0 body roll.
The control is just amazing compared to stock. I am sure others have better results with coils but comparing this to stock the difference is night and day. After replacing the ball joints and tie rods the vibrations that i would get at 55 65 75mph are so minimal its barely noticeable, i experience only some at around 80 but still a huge improvement. The steering is a lot and i mean a lot firmer, huge improvement. Bumps are felt a bit more but its nothing crazy, you will scrape over speed bumps if you don't do the > < steering technique which i expected. In the end these are the best modifications i have done to my car since i bought it, for those that want some fun and a bit more control and some racier shocks i would chose bilstein SP over KYB gr-2, i never owned the KYB's but there are a lot of comments on them that the ride is a bit better then stock and its nothing sporty. But if i was going for a more sports oriented ride i would go with bilstiens bar none. As for the springs i chose tanabe Df210 because they offered a nice drop that i thought would work for me. There are other springs that could offer a different ride, but these seem perfect.
In a couple of weeks i will be installing sways in the front and rear, i will update when i have those installed and how the ride will change. Any who i am off to tackle some twisties questions are welcome and hope this helps make it easier for other that plan on upgrading the suspension.
