Bought the car this way. Replaced and bled brake fluid, it did get a little better but still heavy. What could it be? Could cheap pads cause this? I remember my buddy's SC's brakes felt sharp and effortless. Any ideas? TIA

bleed brakes, and check trac system if you have trac control. it needs to be bled as well.

Looks like I need to take it to dealer. There seems to be a procedure to property bleed the system with some sort of pump.

It is not very hard at all. you just need a hose and i think a wrench.
If you have trac control (you didnt say if you did or not), then it is a little more complicated as you have to lift the rear wheels to bleed the trac pump properly (unless you have the special connector or make one).

If you cant do it try an independent mechanic if the dealer charges alot.
Its a very routine job.

My mechanic did it twice. Not sure if he did it correctly though. I don't think I have traction control on my SC4. Maybe I should take it to a different mechanic that I know of. Dealer wanted $85 for this job. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how it goes.

$85 is very reasonable from the dealer. I was expecting more.
For that price I would probably give it to the dealer.

Gspec

Make sure the caliper pins are well lubed and not frozen/rusted stuck....that would allow only the inside pad to contact the rotor when brakes are applied.

Well got the diagnosis from dealer and brake booster is bad. To fix it at dealer $1400 lol. Is it worth it to do it at dealer? I can probably get it done alot cheaper.
