Default Brake changes from 1995 model and up?

Was getting a quote from one of the vendors for rotors/pads and he got back to me with this:

"Hawk only lists pads for the '96+ Sc300, did anything change form '95 to '96?

The rotors are listed as onlt rhw late model 99-00 sc300 for powerslot and the brembos only list sc400."

As far as I knew, SC300/SC400 used the same components (rotors, pads, brake lines) throughout its lifespan (92-00)... anyone know different?

Hm checkout this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...e-fitment.html

I'm not sure if the difference is in the material or size.

I read that before I posted, but I didn't see definitive... plus you based your comparisons on MSRP?

I dont know the exact year but eventually the sc300 adopted the supra na/ sc400 brakes.
Also i wouldnt bother buying those brake pads atleast not for sc400 brakes. Upgrade to ls400/supra tt then buy pads otherwise you are just wasting money.
Sure, you can pay for the LS400/SupraTT calipers, I'll buy the pads. Deal? LOL

Generally, the price changes from year to year would indicate a change in the part. Whether it be the size or characteristics of it I am unsure.

Definitely, the 92-98 sc300 rotors share the same size. The 99-00 applications won't apply to pre-99 as they would be too big.

Definitely, the 92-98 sc300 pads are also the same size. According to a TSB back in 95, the pre-96 pads were packaged with shim/fitting kits. The 96+ pads came with only pads and the option of buying the shim/fitting kits separately. This difference is the reason why 96-00 pads are cheaper than 92-95 pads and what the Hawk application may be indicating.

Hope this clears the air a bit.

That helps a lot... I PM'd a dealer guy from the Vendor section as well to confirm.

Thanks!

EBC sells the 'green' pad for the sc300, and they are an EXC brake pad.
