A little guidance here please. I have to replace a front caliper on grlfriend's 92 SC 400. I think that this is an opportunity to upgrade the front brakes on the car. I've searched the forums looking for information on upgrades using other Lexus or Toyota components. It seems that the choices are either Supra Twin Turbo, or Lexus LS 400. The Supra option appears to be a bit pricey so I think that I'm leaning towards the LS 400 option. What I don't know is what year LS brakes are appropriate. I'm a BMW guy so I don't know the model ranges for Lexus beyond the SC models. In addition will the LS caliper fit behind stock 16" wheels or will spacers be required, and does this particular upgrade require LS rotors? In the BMW world some upgrades using calipers from other models don't require that model's rotors.
By the way I have already installed SS brake lines.
Thanks in advance.

What ever caliper you use you will need the rotor that goes with it. LS calipers + ls rotor, tt caliper + tt rotor. Ls and TT brakes will not clear stock SC wheels. TT wheels will clear both brakes but are .6 - .7 inches shorter than the sc wheels if equipped with original tires and will upset the speedo slightly.

95-2000 LS400 calipers and rotors are what you need to get. You will have wheel clearance issues. I got a buddy who owns a wheel and tire shop who just happened to have alot of take off wheels that customers left behind. So after fitting 3-4 different sets that he had I ended up using G35 sedan wheels. They're 17" staggered wheels. Expect to spend atleast 400 on your calipers and rotors then look around for any 350z/g35 or supra OEM wheels for the cheapest deals. If you go aftermarket on the wheels make sure they will clear your new brakes aswell
