Rubbing problem with 18inch CCWs and stock suspension
so my rear stock suspension on my sc is hittin the inner tire and rim on harder bumps. do i need a coilover setup like the hks hypers? or will just a kyb eibach combo work for me?

Im gettting this Rubbing noise also but i cant find where its coming from. I'm on some Tein SS coilovers, 18's with 45 offsets i beleive. I'm going to have to jack it up this weekend to take a closer look but from what I can see nothings hitting, worn or damaged. Sounds like its coming from my rear passenger side whenever I make a hard left or hit a dip.
Is this common on our SC's after a wheel/suspension upgrade?

spacers cant be used the rims sits absolutely perfect with the fender i believe its a 11.5 inch wide rim with some stretched 285s for now thats how i got them.
eyesoarer you have to get under the car while its on the ground to see it. the rim doesn't hit when the car is just sitting but its super close. it looks as if its hitting the perch or maybe the spring, hard to tell with not being able to be under when i hit the bumps.
does anyone know if the kyb eibach combo is smaller then stock? Id rather not have to shell out 1500 bucks on a nicer set of hks coilovers if i dont have to.

If you are hitting like that at stock height frankly no coil is going to fix that. It would be a total crapshoot, then when you lower the car the camber will really make it interesting to drive.
Cut the wheel width down / buy new wheels and get proper offsets or do some serious sheetmetal fenderwork, flare it, and get spacers.

these rims belong on this car. im fairly certain the stock suspension is wider then aftermarket i'm just trying to figure out weather or not i can just do the cheaper or have to spend the big money on some coilovers
i had issues with my supra as well and switched to hks drags and it was fine. but why spend 1500 bucks on suspension that i really dont need the sc is just my during the week car.

well, if you insist on making them fit, the only thing you can do is measure the OD of the new spring VS. stock and go from there. But if you're that close all it would take is an alignment with some camber, or a drop from stock and you are right back where you started- hitting. If you are making serious contact and not just a very occasional scrape or buzz over big bumps at speed it's doubtful springs will make a difference.
These cars can't take wheels this wide and still fully function without serious mods.

i do have it and i guess ill have to do that. I was trying to see if anyone has been in this same spot with the same wheels. rather ask questions then have to **** with all that work. thanks for the info though!
