Wow, IMO opinion a lot of comprimises just to make a car look good in a parking lot. Decreasing wheel movement is certainly one way to get things done.

But different kinds of mods of individual tastes and desires is what it's all about, and that's good.

This is all mechanical, you can not cross compare unless all the specs and measurements of the OEM shock + H&R is the same as the BC coils. Just a warning so you are ready for the sacrifices
No need for warning, this is all about a look (stationary preferrably), it has nothing to do with retaining Lexus-like ride and handling while moving down the street briskly, nothing to do with high-performance.

C'mon guys, get the terminology right - this type of mod is a visual performance mod, not a mechanical performance mod.

Reducing wheel travel to accommodate the look you're trying to achieve is like wearing stripper heels. Yes, they sure look good on a mostly naked girl, but just ask her to run a 40 yard dash in those things... NOT happening without blowing out an ankle....

Wow, I think this thread is getting a little blown out of proportion. I'm talking about bumping up the spring rates to 12k/8k. Thats all. 12k/8k is Megan Racing's 'standard'. I believe JIC's 'standard' for the IS is 13K/8K... I'm not sacrificing too much here honestly. I'm not running anything like 16K/14K or anything... cmon now.

And I'm not doing this souly for looks. Though it is a major factor, I'm also not quite so happy with the cars feel right now. Its feels a little 'sloppy' to me. Taking the same turns I used to, now I feel body roll where I didn't before.

14/10, should work good for you.

I had 12/7 before. It was to soft. I wont even say what rate I have now.

^^ I believe Buddy Club Racing is like 16K/10K or something... they said they run these rates because the IS is so darn heavy!

Suggestion: Have a high-end/experienced wheel shop look at machining the wheels to eliminate the rubbing. Then you will have more freedom to adjust coilovers for better ride/handling combo.

I believe I remember you stating you rub a lot... bumping up to a slightly higher spring rate like 12K/8K, or if you don't mind a little firmer go 12K/10K, that should alleviate if not fix entirely rub on dips n' such. it may not completely cure all, but its will deff minimize rubbing while staying within a somewhat comfortable range

IMO 12k/8K is the sweet spot for the IS in terms of comfort

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. I was looking to increase my BC coilovers spring rate from 10k/8k to 12k/10k. I saw some people chose 12k/8k. How's the difference in ride between the two?
