Replace rear shocks after 62,000 miles???
Hey guys, I was hoping somebody could help me with a suspension-related question. I'm real sorry if this is in the wrong section. Anyway, I just took my car in for its 60k mile maintenance and they let me know that the throttle body was dirty and needed a $225 fuel injection service and they also informed me that the rear shocks were leaking and needed replacement and an alignment. The price quoted for the rear shock replacement was just under $1200 and another $100 for the alignment.
The only reason I'm asking is I'm kinda surprised to need such a costly repair this early into the life of the vehicle. I just wanted opinions from you guys before I just shelled over $1,500 without knowing any better. Does this make sense to any of you that know better than I?

Also, at that price, could I think about maybe upgrading my whole suspension setup? Going with F-Sport springs and shocks all around? How much would labor be to install springs and shocks? It looks like the set of springs and shocks from Sewell is around $1040

Injector service sounds like BS. Did your car need the fuel rail TSIB? If it did, there's no reason to service it now. Have them show you the bad shock. Compare it to this chart:
I doubt it's bad, but it's possible.

Thanks alot for that guide, I'll see if I can go take a look!
As far as the other question, assuming the shock really does need replacement, does the price seem right? Would upgrading all my shocks and springs be not that much more expensive?

dude, that price they gave you... you can get a coilover system and have it installed for cheaper.
the vendors on this board are selling MEGANS LP coilover series for 800ish... take it to your local shop to have it install for 150-200ish.
so for around 1000 you get a completely upgraded suspension system with adjustable height and dampening.

1200 is ridiculous!!!!!!! You can change that part yourself for a jack, jack stand and a small handfull of parts. If you were in NJ, i would change it for you for a 6 pack and some pizza.
