Angry Brake Dust is KILLIN me!

Looks like there is no solution.

I had an 07' 250 and had the usual brake dust problem where after 3-4 days my front wheels would be black.. So found the Brake Dust TSB and printed it took in to my dealer and they gladly replaced the pads and it was 100% better! No dust, and braking was smoother imo...

1 year later....

Now, I own a 08' 350, and of course same problem, so I went to my dealer and they looked everything up and told me "Sorry you have the most updated pads on your car" So I am back to square one, I mean I am ready to pay for new pads if I have to, but they say no "low dust" pads exist!

I wash my car and within 24 hours I can write my name with my finger on the front wheels only... And with the wheels being graphite colored already they seem to turn darker faster than the silver ones.. I am just so tired of having to wash my car so much

Any advice??

I call BS.....on my 07 IS350 the brake dust was rediculous. Got the TSB done, and really haven't seen the issue again in the last 6 months. There is a fix, and if you have that bad of a problem, they really should look into that and fix it.

I can't remember if the TSB was for the 08 model or not.....any ideas?

I highly recommend these. They burn a grey dust instead of black and I can go 2-3 weeks with my rims still looking great, not to mention they retain that "grippyness" of the factory high dust pads.

I consider the "grippyness" a big negative. All pads stop the car in the same distance, but the TSIB ones allow much smoother and more linear brake application.

The same TSIB pads will work on your 08 as on your 07, so if you're willing to pay for them it's the exact same part number as it was then.

My dealership gave me the same BS about "You have the newest pads" everytime I asked until the 08s were officially added to the TSIB, then I got the low-dust ones free, no problem simply by bringing in a copy of the TSIB that explicitly included my car.

I suggest you do the same, and if they still insist you have the "new" pads ask them to show you the service record where they were put on the vehicle.

I have Akebono ProActs also and they reduce brake dust much better then the stock OEM brake pads I had on before on my GS. They don't eliminate it but it is a lighter color and the wheels don't looks nearly as bad as when I had the stock pads and I can go longer between cleaning the wheels.

Does anyone have a link to any type of TSB that says 08' is included? The TSB Pdf on this site only says 06-07'

I have an 08' and if I could show them something and go back in I could probably convince them.

I had the low brake dust front pads done last month on my 07 IS350 at 29K miles. I am very happy with the results, I highly recommend the pads.

That's the thread on the TSIB being updated for 08, including a copy of the new TSIB.

Direct link for TSIB is

I had the excessive dust too on my 08. Brakes needed to be replaced anyways so bought some Friction Master ceramics and couldn't be happier. Costed $50 at Advance Auto. Virtually no dust, extremely quiet, and much smoother brake feel.
