Default Just got F-Sport Springs and Sway Bars! Can I do the install?

Hey guys - I'm pretty new on this forum but big over on my.IS. I just got my F-Sport Springs and Sway Bars today from Superstition Springs Lexus (I'm here in Northern California) and don't want to pay the dealer $780 to do the install. Thats more then I paid for the parts! I'm a pretty handy guy and have done my research on here for the DIY threads on these two projects and also obviously have the instructions the items came with. But I'm wondering, from people who have done the install, how hard is it on your own? I would love to knock it out myself...I could go get a spring compressor and I already have the other necessary tools. Also, if there is anyone is Sacramento, CA that'd be interested in making a couple hundred bucks, I'd be happy to pass the work on to you. Let me know guys, and if there are any other DIY threads on this...can you post links here? Thanks!

I live in SAC and just installed my sways bars today... The sways were pretty easy to install. As long as you have a torque wrench you should be fine. As for the Springs, those are a little out of my league. I'm also trying to find a good shop in SAC to install springs. I have a friend who will do it, but I'm kinda skeptical. Don't have the dealers put them in. SAC/Roseville Lexus are a RIP OFF!!!!!
What kind of IS do you have?

I have a 2009 250...any interest in helping with the sway bar install? Maybe if we team up we can get the springs done too! I'm going to do some research on places today for the springs, I'll let you know what I come up with.

PM this CL member "VIP-209" for install. He lives in Stockton (has his own repair shop) and does great work!

He probably posted his GS with airbags on this forum already.

I can help you install the sway bars. But if you IS250 has the Tom's 6 link suspension in the rear I'm not too sure how much i can help with that. MY IS350 didn't have that.
I have no experience in suspension, but i will give it a shot. Does your F-sport springs have the silencer sleeves?

Are you gonna head to LA next weekend for "the Pursuit" meet?

I'm not a mechanic, but i've grown up working on dirtbikes and cars my whole life.

Hey all, I live in Sac also, but I drove down to Milpitas to have everything installed at Exact Motorsports. Installation for springs, shocks, sways was half the price the dealer quoted you, man.

That's a far to drive for a suspension upgrade. I can see if it's motor work(F/I), but not installing springs.

He should be able to find a reputable shop in Sacramento as opposed to driving down to Exact, which would not be that bad of an idea considering their reputation is awesome

Check this thread for some possible candidates

Hey Guys,

Just got my springs and sways installed today by Jesse at Neightborhood Garage in Rancho Cordova, CA. He did a great just and for only $200. Got it done in 4 hours. I got under the car to check everything when I got home and it all looks as it should, not to mention it drives amazingly well and feels much MUCH tighter. No knocks or clunks from the springs, they give the car just the drop I was looking for. There is slight, tiny vibration/noise coming from the left front wheel, not sure what it is yet but it doesn't sound like anything major. I'm going to crawl under and check everything in the morning, not worried though. He's worked on my cars for years and has done great work at a competitive price. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
