Default Problems with H&R Coilovers?

I took a trip to San Jose for a Christmas party at my uncles. I was driving about 80mph on 101S and once I hit those minor dips along the freeway, I would bottom out. I'm running on 18's with 40 series tires, and I even have a 1 finger gap between the tire and fender. Does anyone experience the same problems here with these coilovers? The wheels are hitting the dust guard. When I first put on these coilovers, I've alreeady thought the springs were too soft to be so low. They ride almost like stock but just slightly stiffer, but they hug the road extremely well. Since I bought these from a private seller I just don't know if he had requested a softer spring rate from the manufacture. Are there even optional spring rates if you were to purchase a set of h&r coilovers from h&r? I may need stiffer coils to prevent from bottoming.

I'm pretty low in the front but I'm only running 17 X 8 with a 235/40/17. No issues so far. At first I couldn't believe how compliant the ride was for being so low, and worried that I may bottom out up front but after some spirited cornering and taking a variety of bumps and dips on the highway it hasn't happened once. Rates from H&R should be Front: 9.2 kg/mm / 515 lbs/in, Rear: 5.1 kg/mm / 285 lbs/in. No custom rates are available as far as I know.

Maybe I just might be hitting the edge of the fender then. It does sound more like a scrape than a bump from buttoming. I thought if my tires are stretched it should clear. I will double check it.

Now, I believe the previous poster had a question. Here are some pics of SpuGen's car on some of the lowest possible heights with the H&R setup.

You can definitely slam your car with h&r coilvovers, but I don't recommend it. You want stiffer if you're going way way low. H&R are bit on the soft side, just slightly stiffer than stock.

Sup TrackMonky, back to this topic again. I'm still having the bottoming out affect. Can you tell me if you ever cut the bumpstop from installing the h&r coilovers?
