brakes
hi
back at the days when i used to own lexus ls400 i remember when i went to dealership to change brakes they also charge me for sensors.. they explained it to me that after breakes is gone those sensors are going cover this time before you actually change brakes.
so my question is
does gs has same sensors? if it does .. is it better to change brakes prior for them to finish rather then wait untill i get to see that light on my dash board sayin "get yo' butt to the dealership and change the damn breaks" ? or i'd have to change those sensors anyway no matter what?
i had to pay extra $100 somethin dollars for 'em.. so i'd rather save those money this time

The LS has the electric pad wear sensor that turns on a light on the dash if the pad gets too thin. Each sensor pair is about $70, a pain in the neck. The dealer needs to replace the sensor when the circuit is opened due to contact/wear from the spinning disc. To save this disposable sensor, you need to replace the pads before the sensors contact the disc.
Luckily, for the GS, it has the traditional metal sensor that generates noise on contact with the disc when the pad becomes thin enough. There's no light that will come on on the dash. No big deal.

Seriously, you should spend some quality time talking to your service advisor at the dealer. Maybe take them to lunch or dinner or something.
