installing springs

I thought all springs settle? Before springs are installed/unused they expand due to no weight being on them. So after installing, the car's weight and driving motion compresses the springs to their prescribed height. Would this be referred to as "break in/settle"? I mean even after installation, it will take the springs to set properly with the car's weight on them right? I don't think the springs will stay expanded (at their unused dimension) withe a few thousand pounds on them. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still new to the whole lowering thing =)

Seriously install the springs anytime will be alrite, unless you live in a snowy area! lolz.. Dont worry about the springs settle cause the car(springs) will do its job no matter what. best thing to do, is to push the car on each side when the springs are installed to make sure they are in place. if you know what i mean. Or just pack 5 ppl in the car and allow more pressure on it lolz.. Most likely, it'll settle in 2 days or so. GL

Bushings can deform if the springs aren't installed correctly though.

After reading this thread, my preference still is to get these springs installed correctly by an experienced shop. I'd recommend, keep looking until you find that shop.

anytime you lift up your car to do anything to it, and lower your car back down, your car will be higher because the suspension was fully unloaded, after you drive the car enough so the wheel turns a full round it goes back down to normal ride height.
i think thats why people sometimes confuse springs w/ "settling" after doing an install because really when they drop the car off the jack they're seeing the ride height with the suspension all propped up from being lifted
