My Supra is at 150k and on it's second set of rotors. The first set died when the original pads died. I put on new rotors and Hawk HPS at 62k miles and they're still in good shape 88k miles later.

My g/f's brakes are starting to faintly squeak every so often and I noticed the rotors have formed a lip around them. I know I'll need to replace the pads soon but I was wondering if I should bother to have the rotors turned or just replace them? Other than the lip the rest of the rotors is pretty smooth...

Any recommendations for aftermarket rotors to use with OEM pads?

you can get the oem rotors on the cheap online....just look around.

you want slotted or drilled? stoptech has some nice slotted and theres a company called disc italia that supposedly pretty good for drilled rotors.

I'm sure somebody has....another question is are there any rotors that are lighter than the oem set? I think the oems weigh 24~lbs.

I'm not sure many people have, that's why I'm asking for actual owner experiences and not guesses or speculation. And I don't think OEM rotor weight reduction is an upgrade that most people would even notice when driving.

well maybe not by themselves....but in conjunction with a lightweight wheel setup would be nice.

I mean...why do people take the spare tire out to drag race?? same instance....every little bit helps

my guess is that there's something wrong with the calipers.

i recommend taking it into either a dealership or an independent lexus repair center.

search the socal CL section for some recommendations.
