Default Question on Hawk Pads for '10 IS350

Just bought a IS350, wanted to add a little bit more bite to the brakes.

I noticed on Hawk's website the '10 IS350 the HPS pads are not offered.

1. Any recomendations for aftermarket pads to give it a lil more stopping power?

2. I noticed that for the 06-08 I can get the pads, will they fit just fine in the '10?

Thanks!

Your brake pads make absolutely zero difference to your stopping power.

As long as the pads can engage ABS (which even the stock ones do) you will stop in exactly the same distance as any other pads that can enagage ABS.

Pads can change the feel of your brakes though, and many folks confuse this with stopping better.

If you want better stopping distances put on better tires. The brakes don't stop the car, the tires do.

Anyone telling you differently is selling brake pads.

That does make alot of sense. I was more or less looking for the same "feeling" that my G35 had in terms of breaks being more sensitive if that makes sense.

Still curious about aftermarket pads for the 10 IS350.

The stock pads are more sensitive to pedal pressure but you have to deal with dirty wheels all the time. I'm very happy with the service bulletin replacement pads. They are not as sensitive but there is no brake dust! I’m very hard on brake pads and I have 25K on the replacements so far.

So if I were to switch to aftermarket Pads it would make no difference in the break pedal response?

I'm not too concerned about dust, just would like a more sensitive brake pedal...

Higher friction pads will change the feel of the brakes, they'll feel more "grabby" like the old high-dust OEM pads do.

But the car won't actually be able to stop any shorter than it did with the low-dust OEM pads that offer a more linear brake feel.

I much prefer the low-dust pad feel as it offers, IMHO, smoother, better, control of the brakes... rather than grabby pads that feel like you're slamming the brake pedal with relatively little pressure applied.

Thanks, which brand did you get? I was looking at Hawk and Stoptech.

So has anyone tried any aftermarket brake pads to see if they increase the bite?
