How do you know if you have to change out control arm bushings?

Default How do you know if you have to change out control arm bushings?

I can feel a thump every time I go over a bump in the road, but I was looking at my bushings today and could not really tell if they were bad or not.

How can you tell?

A thump going over bumps is usually the ball joints or the strut mounts....

There aren't ball joints in the rear, are there? I've got clunks going over bumps coming from the back.

Hey Marcus, don't mean to hijack your thread but this may benefit you as well. I also posted this in the CA DIY thread but didn't get a reply.

I have a set of R2 Racing CA Bushing Kit for upper and lower for both front and rear. I originally bought these for my 95 NA supra but never put them on. what do i need to do to make these fit on my 96 sc300? im assuming ill have to put on supra CAs but will i need all 4 supra CAs (upper&lower, front&rear)? and will they fit on the sc without any problem?

An overall sloppiness to the cars handling (eg, theres lots of play in the steering wheel). Once you get new bushings the car should feel tighter, better cornering, etc.

Very good advice. Where were you 3 years ago when I replaced everything but the strut mounts. And I mean everything....

I had a clunk going over bumps also, but it was strut bottoming out.. NOT the bushings.

Going through the same thing right now so if anyone has success with something please PM me. I'll be doing rear brakes this weekend so I'll be able to get a visual this weekend but beyond that I have no clue.
