Default Eibach Question

I first got my car a year ago with 110,000 miles. The previous owner had installed Eibach Pro Lowering Springs and 19 inch rims. Everything ran perfectly for the first couple months. However, after some time I noticed my car was running lower, and the springs had a lot more give. My rear right tire began to rub against the fender. I decided to get smaller rear rims so the wheels would fit in the rear wheel well. This worked, and is how I still have my car set up. However, I want to have stiffness back which I had with the Eibachs in the beginning. Are the Eibachs supposed to lose strength so quick? What are my options. Also, the car still had original shocks on it, so should I replace those since I have after market springs. I'm just looking for better handling like I had when I first purchased the car.

I have almost a year-old set of Eibachs on my 98 GS400 with 120,000 miles and OEM shocks -- no suddenly ride-worsening issues here. You may wanna check your shocks for leaks. Because of the higher spring rate of lowering springs, it puts a lot of wear on OEM shocks, even though some say Eibachs can be run with OEM shocks because of their more conservative drop/spring rate when compared to other aftermarket lowering springs. Upgrade to KYB or Bilstein shocks if you do swap 'em!

Yes, I had to buy smaller wheels for the rear. At first the set up was staggered with 8.5 inch wheels in the front and 9.5 in the back. However, the back wheels hung out just past the wheel well. In the beginning this was fine, and there were no problems. However, since the Eibachs gave way, the car dropped a bit and the right rear wheel began rubbing against the fender (I'm not really sure why it was just the right rear wheel). Instead of replacing the old springs I just replaced the rear wheels with 8.5 inch wheels like the fronts, that way the wheels fit in the wheel well perfectly, and there was no more rubbing.
