Default Noob Questions on F-Sport Springs and Shocks

I've been debating on dropping my car using f-sport springs, some of my friends have told me that i need to change shocks if i get springs cuz the the stock ones cant support the fsport springs, is there any truth behind this or will stock shocks be ok? ive read somewhere that the stock shocks can support it...also how will the fsport springs affect ride quality cuz i absolutely love my suspension and i dont want to have to sacrifice ride quality

any thoughts or responses are appreciated

(p.s. a picture of an IS on fsport springs would be nice also )

It is hurting the stock shocks since the spring is bringing the shocks to a lower level, but it's not drastic damage.

I'd really like someone to explain this to me. It's complete BS.

I've seen this myth over and over again, but there's absolutely no truth to it. Static ride height has nothing to do with the shock wearing out prematurely. Asking a shock designed to control the movement of spring X to control the movement of spring (X + 25%) is what kills the shock. Not the ride height - unless the spring is so weak the shock bottoms out and the piston rod bends.

Pretty much you can get the springs and get an alignment and youd be set. You could also get the shocks if you want, but they aren't necessarily necessary. I personally have both the f sport shocks and springs.

I had the fsport springs but never installed them, I recently installed tein s-techs which is a slightly lower drop than fsport. So far I can say the ride quality feels almost the same to me and I am still on stock shocks. The fsport springs are OEM which is designed especially for our cars, I can not imagine them to be too much of a difference in terms of ride quality from stock. Good luck.

No need to imagine, plenty of CL members have F-sport springs on their ISx50's, we will let them chime in on ride quality. I have Eibach 350's on my IS350.

I have f-sport springs with oem shocks or the sports ones that came with X-package. Ride quality isn't so bad but a bit bumpy on rough roads. If you're going with shocks/springs combo you might as well go with coil.

any ideas that the fsport shocks w/ the springs will make the ride quality less bumpy of rough roads or does the shocks not matter?

IMO, adding the fsport shocks will not improve ride quality (assuming that's your primary goal), but will improve control at speed over rough roads.
