Default Steering rack good/bad?Not solid at 60+

So the front driver side doesn't feel solid(out of balance)on the HWY at 60+ etc.so I did 9-3o'clock shake and it has noticeable movement.Even with the wheel off holding the caliper and steering rod it still has movement.I can feel the steering rod in the boot go in/out when I put my hand over it.Can I replace that part or do I need a whole new steering rack?I replaced all my front bushings including R/P a balanced/alignment a few months ago.Car is a 93 Manual,110,xxx miles, lowered on Megans,18x8.5.Rims....any ideas? Thanks

Perhaps something as simple as your wheel bearing? Hub bearing? If you replaced the bushings, and it isn't one of the previous two things I mentioned, then it's probably a serious problem you should get professionally checked out IMHO.

Na,it's not the wheel bearing. It would have movement at 12-6 oclock for a bad bearing.this is at 3-9.I think it's the inner tie rod cause that's where I feel the movement is inside the boot where the jointvis.I just need to know if it's as easy as replacing the inner tie rod, maybe it needs to be tightened,or do I need to replace the whole steering rack?

ahhhh, mkay. Well, it is a '93 so replacing the tie rod is likely, I agree with your diagnosis BTW. You didn't mention any knocking so no a joint me don't thinks...hmm. Whole steering rack?:..Doubtful, that only usually has to happen when there's a wreck involved.

Anyone chime in on here if I'm not covering this issue correctly, which I think I am.

No,no knocking but,i've heard a slight popping sound when coming down my steep drive way.and the out of balance feel when at 60+ on the hwy.I did pages of searches but,it seems people just replace the whole steering rack.I have no leaks just the inner tie rod moves?the thing is they turn in so why would that joint move?maybe stripped?idk
