Angry Brake problem on my IS

hello,

I am having a few problems with my brakes that just started happening few weeks ago. I just went to my mechanic to check the brake pads and he said I still have about 50% left on the pads.

The problem is when I stop it makes a loud squeeky noise that sounds like a bus stopping. What can be the problem if my brake pads are 50% all around.

Your rotors probably need to be resurfaced, do you see a groove on your rotors yet?

ive heared from dealer that it was something common for 2IS to make squeek...
they say if you get ur rotors resurfaced it will fix the problem..

So this is a sign of the rotors going out?

I've heard that resurfacing rotors will decrease the braking performance dramatically. Correct me if I'm wrong..

No, I do not see any rust at all.

Not necessarily a sign of the rotors going out, but just a sign of them being used. sometimes brake pads wear unevenly and it creates an uneven rotor surface.
you can only resurface a rotor so many times before its nolonger useable.

idk where the hell you heard that it would decrease braking performance, resurfacing rotors is making the surface of the rotor flat so that your new brake pads will have maximum contact. Also it gets rid of any old brake pad material that is stuck to the surface of your rotor.

From a brake pad manufacturer who tested and proved it. Conventional resurfacing creates more problems than it solves.

I had/have the same issue when rolling real slow. My mechanic, former Lexus master tech for over 20 years, said it was my rotors unevenly worn, good thing is I am going to replace with new rotors, don't bother resurfacing, just replace.

to the OP, the problem is not the rotors, its the pins need lubricating..i had the exact same problem a couple months back and my rotors and pads were fine..i just lubricated the pins holding the front brake pads with some grease and no more squeaking..i guess after a while of daily driving the pins dry out from rain and car washes..easy fix

Not possible. There's no such thing as unevenly worn or warped. The disc might not be sitting flat on the hub, but way smarter guys than any of us here say the only thing discs do under severe use is get hard spots. Unless you left foot brake all the time, you'll not be able to do this to your street car.

I don't resurface, I just put new pads on, bed them in, and go.

How do I lubricate the pins? Would I have to remove my brake pads for that?

Finally someone who knows what they are talking about. Been waiting for some experts to chime in.

What would you recommend me to do to fix this terrible squeeks. It is ridiculous whenever I stop everyone looks at me.
