Cant seem to get my pedal firm

What I do is use the Mityvac while someone is pumping the brakes for a double whammy.
If that doesn't work try bleeding the master.
disconnect both lines
have someone slowly depress brake pedal down and HOLD
cap both open ports with two fingers
have someone slowly let the pedal all the way up
repeat process 5-6 times
install lines after they let the pedal up the final time
Easy to do and can make a HUGE difference in pedal.

Yeah i just picked up the Mityvac the other day, hopefully that works if not I will try and bleed the cylinder. I have a feeling I may have to bleed the cylinder
