Default Brake upgrade

Since I changed my wheels, I noticed my rotors and calipers need some attention.

Are cross drilled rotors effective at improving braking power? Suggestions on affordable brands? Thanks for your help.

I had some decent ones from 88rotors.com. They seem to do the job on my 01 430. If you are going the cheap route though, then make sure you get your calipers powder coated or painted (G2) as well as around the hib. They rust easily...

IMO X-drilled and slotted rotors do make a difference in stopping power. Before I sold my Acura, I went from X-drilled and slotted to stock rotors before I sold it. I could deffinitely tell the difference. R1concepts make a good rotor. I just did xdrilled and slotted on my GS400 with ceramic pads.

www.r1concepts.com

or

If you go to the vendor classifieds, i believe that platinum motors (can't remember the name) offers R1Concepts at 15% off.

I'm running 20" rims and I haven't noticed any decreased braking on my 430. Indrive pretty aggressive too. I don't track my car though. Anyway, if you feel you have a breaking deficiency then BBK is the way to go. If you just want a cosmetic upgrade, the drilled/slotted rotors and paint calipers will be fine.

this is why i went with rotora slotted rotors

If you buy them, take the time to paint the hub with caliper of high temp paint before you install them. This should prevent rusting.

The people who complain about x-drilled or slotted rotors being noisy and doesn't help in braking distance is because you are simply not pairing parts up properly. STOP BEING CHEAP!!! Instead of a BBK, simply get yourself a set of DBA 4000 series slotted rotors, SS lines, ATE Blue fluid, and pair all that with some carbotech AX6 pads and call it a day. I am pretty confident that this setup will be more than what's needed for any driver who drives on the streets aggressively and does occasional track time. Oh, this is still using stock caliper and not upgrading to Supra TT's or LS400.

yes but even with the most aggressive driving style the stock rotors will dissipate enough heat to prevent brake fade. You dont need to cross drill your rotors unless you live in the mountains, race your car AT A TRACK or are like jeff and are known to be found on the highway at 2am doing 20-160 runs haha. Cross drilled rotors are usually chosen for their aesthetic properties.
