I'm curious.........what would cause the rotors to be eaten up like this? The front of the rotor where the pads grab the rotor are smooth and where the pad doesnt touch there is a layer of rust. As you can see from the pictures the back of the rotor is destroyed as is the brake pad.

caliper is misaligned when clamping or the rotor is past its tolerance.

Those look pretty gnarley, never seen it that bad.

I was going to go BBK but I decided not to because I already had new rotors that I got for free for all 4 brand new. I was given the fronts and the rears I got as pay from a buddy for fixing the plumbing in his house.

The brake pads I will net for $30 after rebates are recieved and for the front calipers and all 4 brake hoses it cost me $120 total. $50 of that was an Advance Auto gift card so I decided against the BBK..............for NOW anyways lol. Now this winter when I put the car away I cant promise I wont go for it lol.

how long have you had the car? i wonder if the rotors were already toast and someone just slapped on pads to quell the nasty noises. youre the same guy that had the bleeders ripped off right?

That would be correct, bleeders on all 4 calipers were rusted and one was completely ripped off for god know how long.

I'm pretty sure your right the previous owner just put pads on and called it a day then sold it. I feel sorry for the BMW he imported

lucky you still have a car in 1 piece and not having a video of you going straight through a stop sign and starting a pile up.

i thought that the rust around the outer edge would give it away, let alone the saw tooth that would have been on the rotor.

if i was asked to put them on a customers car. i would walk over and put them in the bin right in front of them.

now you have learn't not to be a tight **** and do it properly with new rotors and pads.

while you are putting them on clean and paint the rotors and calipers

if i were you, id go straight to the guy that sold the car to you, and punch him square in the jaw. then smash him with that rotor.

sorry for the violence. but that kinda crap really bothers me.

yea that would be a seized caliper or the pins being seized and causing it to not contact aka the build up of rust.

At least they weren't this bad...

I pulled these off a friend's wife's Camry. Luckily they didn't break until I was taking them off, but they were close. Some of the fins were rusted completely through.

It broke apart when I was taking it off. Was just barely holding together on the car.
