Default How much can you drop on coils before scraping?

So I think the day has finally come to install my rims and coilovers, and now I need to make the big decision: how much should I drop?

I have BC Racing Coilovers with an 8K/10K spring rate and my wheels specs are 19x8.5 +35 & 19x9.5 +36 with 235/35/19 & 275/30/19. I'd like to drop as much as I can without serious scraping or rubbing. I understand certain driveways will cause me to scrape even with a minor drop, but this is my daily driver so I'd rather not tear up my front lip every time I turn off a main street. My original thought was 1 finger gap all around. What do you guys think?

You can go a lot lower than 1 finger gap all around without scraping/rubbing.

Little tucked in the rear and perfect drop in the front will work.

Thanks for the input guys. I didn't get any feedback until 11:00pm and had to make my decision at like 1:00pm so I just told the shop 1 finger gap all around. Pretty sure it's even lower than that since I can't fit a finger between my rear tire and the fender (maybe you can take a look at this during the YBHS show today Colan?).

Anyway, I think I'm pretty low - maybe even slammed? The front-left (and right too I think) is rubbing on something whenever I hit even a minor road dip - I'm sure it's that infamous plastic tab that would need to be heat gunned and hammered.

As far as scraping, I had my first experience with it pulling into Safeway, and it wasn't really steep at all. The bottom of my front lip hit the ground and scraped for a split second, but there doesn't appear to be any serious damage. I'll post pictures later. I think I'll raise the back like 1.5 cm and the front 1 cm. It'll help me look more flush with less negative camber anyway, which is what I'm going for.

Post pics! I'm not even slammed on coils and I scrape driving on some regular roads around LA, not even driveways. Today driving up Adams in downtown around USC, there were parts where trucks left indents in the road from their weight and repeated wear on the asphalt and I scraped a bit, just driving regularly. Stupid LA budget...or the lack of it to maintain roads...

^ Ouch. What are your wheel size/offsets & tire specifications? I don't think I'm hitting my fender like that, just the plastic tab. I hope... How bad is it to be rubbing like I am? Should I stop driving until I get it fixed or is it not that big of a deal?

Pics will go up tonight. I'm pretty set on raising it a bit, to both avoid rubbing and premature tire wear from my negative camber.

Wish I paid more attention to you Mv350, I thought I'd be safe with my more conservative offsets, but no.

Check this thread for what you SHOULDN'T do when dropping on coils: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-on-coils.html
