So how many of you used your SC bolts when mounting LS calipers?

Default So how many of you used your SC bolts when mounting LS calipers?

I got mine in today and the p/o said he just used his SC bolts and a washer to get the calipers to mount. Is there an actual problem with that? I have no problem holding out until I get some correct bolts as I'm still looking around at the stainless braided lines and some good fluid, so I'm in no rush.

Also is there any problem with just removing the dust shield all together so I won't have a problem at all with interference?

Since you have time to spare, get the proper LS bolts, I got mine from Toyota, just forgot the part number. Get rid of the shield, I tried cutting it, it takes a lot less time removing it than cutting it.

Use the SC bolts temporarily but get LS bolts in the long run. The bolts aren't expensive anyways.

I know it fits, but just because it fits doesn't mean it will work over the long haul. Even Toyota specifies that the bolts should be replaced if you've removed them a couple of times. Anytime you can avoid using washers, then its the route you should take. Now they're not going to snap all of the sudden, but the bolts are cheap as hell.

Used washers on plent of LS400 swaps.... on my Supra, I used 2 LS400 bolts, and 2 SC400 bolts + washers. It does not matter.

Where are you guys purchasing your LS400 BBK's from?? And will they fit with the stock SC300 wheels or even better, if they would fit with a IS350 stock 18's?? I'm just wondering cause my GF needs need Brakes and I still have my IS350 wheels... Thanx in advance guys!

It takes less than 3 seconds to grind the extra 3 mm off of the bolt, with a hobby dremel .........

I just used two lock washers on each bolt. Cost me like 90 cents.

And Phil, they will not fit behind stock SC wheels, but they will fit behind the IS wheels.

I got my calipers at autozone, they were under $100 for the pair, IIRC, but it was 4 years ago. I just through my stock calipers in the box and got my core charge back no problem....

I ordered the rotors through rockauto.com, I think they were about $40/ea.

I did the whole thing for under $200, and the AZ calipers are holding up fine 4 years and 50k later.

They will not clear the stock SC wheels, not sure about the IS, its possible they might work ok, depending on the size of the IS brakes. You are looking for wheels with "high disk fitment."

I ended up just picking up a set of Supra TT wheels, as it was the cheapest option, and I have always liked the way they look on SCs.
