hey guys,
I've done all my research, but now is the hard part. I'm not sure whether to go with f-sport springs and f-sport shocks or coilovers (between megan and bcr).
I know most people would say go coilovers, but I was wondering if coilovers would be worth it for what my plans are. I have a wickedly steep driveway and at the bottom, the muffler can is ~1" from the ground at its lowest point on stock springs/shocks. I plan to only lower the car 1.5" front and 1" in the rear. I inteded to go with just springs/shocks, but when looking at the prices shipped to HI, I'd be paying just as much as coilovers.
Another factor is the spring rates. I'm looking for ones that will not be extremely stiff so I can pass a bounce test (suspension travel 1" down and 1" up) we have here in HI for reconstruction permit. According to my calculations, the stock spring rate is...
Front: 45 N/mm (4.6 kg/mm or 257 lb/in)
Rear: 51 N/mm (4.6 kg/mm or 291 lb/in)
Do you guys think it's better to go with coilovers?

Depends what you want. I would much rather get a good spring/shock system than a POS coilover.
If the spring/shock cost almost as much as some of the lower end coilovers, then that's up to you to decide is the quality worth the trade-off for some adjustability. Lots of people here have both coilovers and spring/shock system, so neither one is a winner over the other.

The only down side to springs in your case would be if the springs settle too low and you start scraping...then you're kinda screwd as you have no height adjsutment.
If you do go springs and shocks MAKE SURE, of the lowest height they settle by doing some researach and checking with members who already have them.
