Default What's wrong with my brakes?

Just got me a used 06 IS 350 with 35k miles, the dealerhip said they replaced the brakes with new ones since it went through the certification process. Well I think I'm having issues with my brakes but not exactly sure on the diagnosis. I can hear and feel a grind when I slowly ease off the brakes from a complete stop, as well as hearing a sudden grind sound when the car finally makes a complete stop. Does anyone know what this could be?

That's a good assumption because I don't think it has anything to do with the pads since there's no squeeking noise just a grind on stops and slow release.

Sounds like the stealership didn't do a good job. I would take it back and have them fix it.

isx50 brakes and rotors are the worst things ever made. i remember during my first oil maintanence (5000 miles) I had to get my entire front brake set up swapped out...are you serious? stupid. and now I have the same grinding noise and squeaking sounds.

Looks like they need to be resurfaced and get new pads...also the brakes are letting off rust, after washing my car and driving for a day i noticed orange dust (rust) along the inside of my wheels. instead of wasting any more money trying to maintain pos lexus/toyota brakes i'm getting a new brake kit. no worries, everyone has problems with their brakes, hopefully my situation will make yours seem not too bad. good luck, let us know how things go at the stealership.

why not bring it back, tell them the issue, and see what they will do? I agree, could be the rotors...

thanks for the input guys, I have a service appointment setup for Wednesday to have the dlrshp take a look and I'm not planning on shelling any money out of my pocket for this either.

recently was working on a freinds awd is250 (2006)

we found out that a pin in the brake assembly was bent and scraping against the rotor and had severely damaged the surface.

the pin was bent back into shape, and the rotor replaced.

grinding noise gone.

maybe this has happened to you as well?

check your pads. sometimes people miss the inner brake pads n think there is still life.. i dont think a new car should have seized pistons so u dont think u need to check for that.

Sounds pretty normal to me with the high dust pads.

Ok I dropped the car off at the dealership today, the service guy tried to say it's normal but he'll take a look, they gave me an ES as a loaner and the brakes work fine with no grind noise so I hope they do me right and correct the issue, I'll give an update when I get the IS back.

The ES doesn't have the same brake pads so, of course it doesn't make the same noises.
